Bangladesh gets five new green garment factories

Five more garment factories in Bangladesh have received the prestigious Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the United States, further consolidating the country’s position as the global leader in sustainable apparel manufacturing.
With these additions, the total number of LEED-certified factories in Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) sector has reached 268, according to the latest data from the US Green Building Council (USGBC). Among them, 114 hold Platinum ratings while 135 are Gold-rated, marking a significant achievement for the industry.
Notably, 68 of the world’s top 100 eco-friendly garment factories are now located in Bangladesh, highlighting the sector’s rapid progress in adopting environmentally responsible practices.
The newly certified factories include three with Platinum status, Pakiza Knit Composite Limited, Fashion Pulse Limited, and GAVE Private Limited, and two with Gold status — Visual Knitwears Limited and Talisman Performance Limited, located in the Chattogram Export Processing Zone (CEPZ).
