Bangladesh-Thai chamber of commerce aims to establish free trade agreement with Thailand

Bangladesh-Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTCCI) has called on Thailand to enter into a free trade agreement (FTA) with Bangladesh to enhance bilateral trade.
The president of BTCCI, Shams Mahmud, made this plea during a meeting with Makawadee Sumitmor, the Thai ambassador to Bangladesh, held at the Thailand embassy in Dhaka on May 30.
In addition to the FTA, Mahmud, and his chamber team also proposed the relaxation of Thai visa regulations for Bangladeshi citizens, facilitating increased business collaborations.
The Thai envoy expressed assurance that the proposals put forward by BTCCI would be considered and pledged to streamline the Thai visa process.
The BTCCI president urged Thai officials to explore importing various new products from Bangladesh, including pharmaceuticals, jute and jute goods, leather, garments, and ceramics.
The meeting was attended by Md Munir Hossain, senior vice-president of BTCCI, and Abdul Kasem Khan, chamber director.
