Bangladesh will fully digitize the security clearance process for foreign investors and expatriate workers through the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority’s (BIDA) One-Stop Service (OSS) portal by mid-September.
The decision was confirmed at a high-level inter-agency meeting chaired by Bida’s executive chairman, Ashik Chowdhury, according to a press release.
As part of the move, security clearance services will be digitised end-to-end on the OSS portal, with simplified documentation requirements aligned with guidelines from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Nasimul Gani, senior secretary at the ministry, stated that the government remains committed to digital transformation in immigration processes.
The changes will apply to all foreign nationals seeking work permits or visa services, regardless of which investment promotion agency (IPA) they are linked to. Officials said the initiative is part of Bida’s broader strategy to streamline services for investors and create a more business-friendly environment to attract foreign direct investment (FDI).
The OSS platform, launched to integrate services from multiple government agencies, is being expanded to streamline paperwork and expedite approvals. Officials believe digitalisation will not only improve transparency and efficiency but also strengthen Bangladesh’s appeal as an investment destination.
