BRAC Bank PLC has partnered strategically with Green Delta Insurance PLC to provide life and health insurance to 50,000 women remittance beneficiaries by 2025.
The agreement was recently signed at BRAC Bank’s head office in Dhaka by Md Shaheen Iqbal, Deputy Managing Director of the bank, and Syed Moinuddin Ahmed, Additional Managing Director of Green Delta, according to a press release.
Under the initiative, women receiving foreign remittances through BRAC Bank will be eligible for a comprehensive insurance package, including life coverage of up to Tk 2 lakh, annual health insurance of Tk 50,000, maternity care, and both outpatient and inpatient treatment.
These benefits are embedded in the bank’s TARA Probashi Poribar Account, a tailored financial product aimed at women managing remittance funds at home. The account also offers debit card access, internet banking, and monthly interest, promoting financial inclusion and formal savings habits.
Currently, nearly 60,000 women receive remittances through BRAC Bank, accounting for 35% of its remittance account holders. Many of them reside in key remittance-receiving districts such as Sylhet, Feni, Noakhali, and Chattogram.
“TARA Probashi Poribar is our commitment to recognise women’s role in the remittance flow and ensure they receive appropriate services and protection,” said Iqbal.
The partnership is expected to encourage greater use of formal banking channels for remittance transfers, support family financial security, and strengthen Bangladesh’s foreign currency reserves.
