BYD has launched a nationwide endurance drive to demonstrate the real-world performance of its latest plug-in hybrid, the Sealion 6.
The campaign began on 4 September and will cover 1,866km over five days, testing the vehicle’s range and efficiency across varied routes in Bangladesh. The Sealion 6, introduced with an estimated range of 1,100km, is undergoing extended trials to prove its long-distance capabilities.
The convoy, led by BYD Bangladesh officials and automotive enthusiasts, set off from Dhaka for Banglabandha Zero Point and then returned to the capital. The route includes stopovers in Cox’s Bazar, Teknaf, and Chattogram.
The first leg, Dhaka to Banglabandha, spanned nearly 465km, with subsequent journeys to Cox’s Bazar (396km) and Teknaf, before concluding back in Dhaka.
Shahnuma Sharmin, BYD Bangladesh’s Lead of Strategy & Digital, said the initiative aimed to set “a new benchmark for PHEV performance in the region,” describing the drive as a reflection of the Sealion 6’s “remarkable endurance and efficiency.”
She added that the campaign was intended to showcase how hybrid technology could exceed expectations in real conditions, combining performance with eco-friendliness.
The Sealion 6 endurance drive forms part of BYD’s broader initiative to promote new energy vehicles in Bangladesh, as the company positions itself at the forefront of sustainable transportation solutions.
