Chinese firm to invest $27.8 million in sock factory in Chattogram

Dongfang Knitting (BD) Ltd, a Chinese company, is set to establish a sock manufacturing factory in the Bepza Economic Zone at Mirsarai in Chattogram with an investment of $27.8 million.
The factory aims to produce 216 million pairs of socks annually for men, women, and children, generating employment for 5,192 Bangladeshi workers.
Ali Reza Mazid, Bepza’s member for investment promotion, and Fang Zhendong, managing director of Dongfang Knitting (BD), inked the agreement at the Bepza Complex in Dhaka.
Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, Bepza’s executive chairman, pledged full support to the Chinese company.
