Deal between AFC Agro & S. Korean firm for diagnostic kits

A recent collaboration between AFC Agro Biotech Ltd and South Korean firm Bioneer Corporation is set to bring forth molecular diagnostic kits detecting mosquito-borne viral diseases like dengue and chikungunya. AFC Agro revealed this partnership through a Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) announcement.
The agreement extends to the creation of diagnostic kits specifically for identifying the hepatitis B virus and various transplant-related viruses. AFC Agro’s role involves the production, refilling, and distribution of these molecular diagnostic kits not only in Bangladesh but also across other ASEAN countries, as outlined in the DSE posting.
These diagnostic tools are designed to detect a wide array of infectious diseases, including those that currently pose challenges in terms of diagnosis due to their complexity or cost.
On the stock exchange, AFC Agro’s shares closed at Tk 23.5 each, marking no change following the announcement.
