Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC has entered into a global distributorship agreement with Bargain Warehouse Inc., a private company based in Barbados, in a bid to expand its presence across international markets.
Under the six-year agreement, Bargain Warehouse will be responsible for selling, distributing, and marketing 13 of Walton’s products in 16 overseas territories, according to a disclosure posted on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) website on Tuesday.
The move is part of Walton’s broader strategy to strengthen its global footprint and tap into new consumer markets beyond Bangladesh. The company, a major player in the country’s electronics manufacturing sector, stated that the deal represents a significant step toward diversifying its export operations.
Founded in 1977, Walton began producing refrigerators, air conditioners, and compressors in 2008 before expanding into a broader range of home and electrical appliances, including televisions. The company now operates one of the largest electronics manufacturing plants in Bangladesh.
Despite the strategic expansion effort, Walton reported a decline in quarterly net profit. During the January–March period of fiscal year 2024–25, the company reported a profit of Tk 392 crore, down from Tk 422 crore in the same quarter of the previous year.
As of June 30, 2025, DSE data show that Walton’s shareholding structure comprised 61.09% held by sponsors and directors, 38.22% by the general public, 0.60% by institutional investors, and 0.09% by foreign investors.
The company anticipates that the new international partnership will positively contribute to its long-term growth trajectory.
