Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) has reported a 10% year-on-year rise in profit for the third quarter of FY2024–25, driven by increased shipping fares and gains from vessel sales.
According to a disclosure on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) website, the state-owned company posted a profit of Tk 75.5 crore for the January–March 2025 period, with earnings per share (EPS) rising to Tk 4.95 from Tk 4.47 a year earlier.
BSC attributed the profit growth to higher international shipping rates and capital gains from selling two vessels—MT Banglar Jyoti and MT Banglar Sourav.
For the nine months from July 2024 to March 2025, EPS reached Tk 14.38, up from Tk 11.05 in the same period last fiscal year. Net operating cash flow per share rose to Tk 19.58 from Tk 15.84.
However, as of March 31, the company’s net asset value per share declined due to the repayment of a government concessional loan.
According to DSE data, as of April 30, 2025, the government remained the majority shareholder with 52.1% of BSC, while institutional investors held 21.34% and general investors 26.56%.
