China-Bangladesh relations forge ahead post-election

The Chinese Ambassador to Dhaka, Yao Wen, highlighted the prospects of increased bilateral trade and economic collaboration between Bangladesh and China following the forthcoming general election scheduled for January 7.
The event, organized by the Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BCCCI) alongside the Chinese Enterprises Association in Bangladesh (CEAB), recognized 27 Chinese and Bangladeshi businesses for their significant contributions to Bangladesh’s economy.
Ambassador Yao Wen underscored the consistent and progressive development of trade and investment cooperation between China and Bangladesh.
Ambassador Yao Wen referenced the political impetus injected by the leaders of both countries. He specifically mentioned the inauguration of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel, elevating Belt and Road cooperation between the nations.
Yao Wen also highlighted the extensive contributions made by Chinese enterprises to Bangladesh’s infrastructure, including the construction of railways, roads, bridges, and power plants. These projects have provided over 550,000 job opportunities for residents.
The ambassador expressed confidence in elevating China-Bangladesh economic and trade collaboration to serve as a benchmark for high-quality development within the Belt and Road Initiative, thereby advancing the strategic partnership between the two nations to new heights.
