United International University (UIU) will host its annual Media Fest 2025 on 23 September at the university’s permanent campus, organized by the Department of Media Studies and Journalism.

The festival will feature a Content Competition, showcasing short visual narratives under 15 minutes in partnership with the UIU Film & Theatre Club. Acclaimed director Shankha Dasgupta will judge the entries, which highlight human-interest storytelling.

A parallel Photography Contest, “Frames of Creativity,” will exhibit selected works by young photographers. Organised with the UIU Photography Club, it will be judged by photojournalist Jibon Ahmed of Netra News. Both contests are open to participants aged 16–25.

Adding a competitive edge, the Media Quiz will test participants’ knowledge of social media, streaming, gaming, and film, as teams face off before a live audience.

The festival’s Star Talk will bring together leading figures from Bangladesh’s media and entertainment industries, including filmmaker Maksud Hossain and content creator Kaarina Kaisar. Media leaders, Md. Shariful Islam Khan of News 24 and Md. Sariful Islam of Oxfam will also share insights.

Cultural performances, including dance, songs, and a fashion ramp show, will round off the programme, with participation from the UIU Cultural Club.

Supported by media partners Industry Insider, News 24, Kaler Kantho and The Daily Campus, the event underscores UIU’s role in shaping future journalists and content creators through hands-on training and industry engagement.
