Eastern Bank to issue Tk 8 billion bonds

Eastern Bank PLC has approved the issuance of subordinated bonds worth Tk 8 billion to strengthen its Tier-II capital, the lender said in a disclosure on the Dhaka Stock Exchange website.
The seven-year bonds will be issued through private placement, subject to clearance from regulators. The decision was taken at a board meeting on 24 September.
The private commercial bank reported a profit of Tk 1.96 billion in the April–June quarter of 2025, marking an 11% year-on-year rise.
As of 31 August, sponsor directors held 31.44% of the company’s shares, while institutions owned 43.06%, general investors 24.93% and foreign shareholders 0.57%, according to DSE data.
