Bangladesh’s point-to-point inflation rate eased to 9.17 percent in April, marginally down from 9.35 percent in March, according to the latest data released by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).
The decline reflects reductions in both food and non-food inflation, offering slight relief after months of persistent price pressures. Non-food inflation dropped to 9.61 percent in April from 9.70 percent in March, while food inflation saw a sharper fall to 8.63 percent from 9.93 percent in the previous month.
The latest figures continue a downward trend from the peak recorded earlier in the fiscal year 2024–25. Inflation hit a 13-month high of 11.38 percent in November before gradually declining over the next several months. The rate fell to 10.89 percent in December, 9.94 percent in January, and 9.32 percent in February before inching up slightly in March.
