The National Economic Council (NEC) on Sunday approved a Tk 2.30 trillion Annual Development Programme (ADP) for the fiscal year 2025–2026, with a focus on ongoing foreign-funded projects, poverty reduction, and infrastructure development.
Planning Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud told reporters after the meeting that an additional Tk 85.99 billion was allocated for development spending by autonomous bodies and state-owned corporations, reports UNB.
The meeting, chaired by Chief Adviser and NEC Chairperson Prof Muhammad Yunus, was held at the NEC conference room in Dhaka.
Officials said the ADP was framed in line with the country’s available domestic resources, foreign aid, and the broader macroeconomic outlook. Priority has been given to sectors including agriculture, education, health, ICT, power, and disaster management, particularly ongoing projects supported by foreign loans and grants.
The plan also targets employment generation, GDP growth, and human resource development, with ministries and divisions directly involved in these areas receiving precedence in fund allocation.
The meeting was attended by members of the Advisory Council, the Cabinet Secretary, Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser, Bangladesh Bank Governor, Planning Commission members, senior secretaries, and other top officials.
