Sri Lanka’s tourism earnings surged to an estimated $401 million in January 2025, marking a strong start to the year, according to the country’s Central Bank.

In a press release issued on Friday night, the Central Bank reported that tourist arrivals for the month reached 252,761, the highest ever recorded for January. The figures highlight the sector’s continued recovery and growth.

Deputy Minister of Tourism Ruwan Ranasinghe had earlier stated that Sri Lanka aims to attract 3 million tourists in 2025. The latest data indicates that the country is on track to meet its target.

Tourism is a key contributor to Sri Lanka’s economy, and the latest figures suggest a steady revival following past economic and political challenges.
