Several Bangladeshi firms have signed agreements with Starlink to assist in setting up ground-earth stations across the country. 

The collaboration, announced during a visit by a team from the US telecommunications service provider, includes space allocation, construction support, and infrastructure maintenance.

According to officials, some firms are offering their own properties for the installations, while others are facilitating the use of government-owned Hitech Park locations. Discussions on site selection and implementation details are ongoing, said Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser.

Taiyeb expressed optimism that Starlink would provide reliable and high-speed internet services across urban and remote areas, including the northern and coastal regions, unaffected by load shedding or natural disasters. He emphasized that this initiative would support entrepreneurs, freelancers, NGOs, and SMEs by overcoming the limitations of telecom-grade fiber networks in Bangladesh.

“We aim to implement a practical model with Starlink within the next 90 days,” Taiyeb added.

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has personally invited SpaceX CEO Elon Musk to visit Bangladesh and launch the service. In a letter dated February 19, Yunus highlighted the impact Starlink could have on young Bangladeshis. Dr. Khalilur Rahman has been tasked with coordinating efforts with the SpaceX team to ensure the service is ready for launch within the designated timeline.
