Exports rise 8.58% in FY2024-25 despite June dip

Bangladesh’s exports grew by 8.58% year-on-year, reaching $48.28 billion in the 2024-25 fiscal year, according to data released by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) on Tuesday.
However, exports in June declined by 7.55% to $3.33 billion compared to the same month last year, said EPB Vice-Chairman Md Anwar Hossain.
He attributed the June dip to a long Eid-ul-Azha holiday, which disrupted factory production. “Factories were closed for an extended period, affecting shipment volumes,” he said.
Hossain also cited declining exports to India due to recent trade tensions, as well as disruptions caused by a nationwide shutdown by National Board of Revenue (NBR) officials, which hampered export operations last month.
