India is planning a large-scale ‘data city’ in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, to expand artificial intelligence infrastructure.
The project aims to cover a 100-kilometre radius and include data centres, server manufacturing, and cooling systems.
The state has secured $175 billion in investment agreements for 760 projects, including $15 billion from Google and $11 billion from a Reliance-Brookfield-Digital Realty joint venture.
Andhra Pradesh will provide land at one US cent per acre to major investors.
The plan targets six gigawatts of data centre capacity, supported by surplus water and planned nuclear power plants.
