Meta has announced ‘Movie Gen,’ an AI-powered tool capable of generating high-definition videos with sound based on text prompts.

The tool, which can also edit existing footage and still images, offers flexibility in aspect ratios for various platforms. However, public access to Movie Gen is still pending.

In a recent demonstration, Meta showcased how the tool can transform static images into dynamic videos and perform complex edits. Movie Gen can add ambient sound and background music and even alter video styles with simple text commands.

This announcement comes months after OpenAI introduced its AI video generator, Sora.
