MetLife Bangladesh settled insurance claims worth 28.53 billion taka in 2025, the company said on Sunday.

The payouts covered life insurance benefits and claims related to death and medical needs. The insurer said the figures confirmed its position as the country’s largest life insurer in terms of claims settlement.

MetLife Bangladesh reported a claims settlement ratio of 98 percent during the year. This is among the highest in Bangladesh’s insurance sector.

Of the total amount paid, 3.13 billion taka went to health and medical claims. Death claims accounted for 1.10 billion taka. The remaining 24.3 billion taka was paid for maturity, partial maturity, and other policy claims.

The company has consistently settled the highest volume of claims in recent years. It paid 28.95 billion taka in 2024, 29.81 billion taka in 2023, and 25.48 billion taka in 2022.

MetLife Bangladesh Chief Executive Officer Ala Ahmad said the company focused on standing beside customers at critical moments. He said strong finances, efficient operations, and transparency supported the insurer’s claims performance.

He added that timely and clear claims settlement was key to building trust in the insurance sector. Customer experience, he said, now played a growing role in shaping confidence in insurers.

MetLife Bangladesh allows customers to submit claims through a digital system. Payments are usually completed within three to five working days, the company said.

The insurer currently serves around one million individual customers across Bangladesh. It also provides coverage to more than 900 corporate clients.

MetLife Bangladesh is part of the global MetLife group, which operates in several international markets.
