Bangladesh Honda Private Ltd (BHL), a subsidiary of Honda Motor Co Ltd, has commenced its export operations, which is a significant step towards contributing to local and international markets.
The company has begun exporting its X-Blade motorcycle model, initially sending shipments to Guatemala by air in January and now by sea. BHL plans to expand its export operations to South America, Central America, and Africa.
This strategic initiative underscores BHL’s dedication to supporting Bangladesh’s economic growth. According to a press release, the company aims to boost local procurement, generate foreign currency, and create employment opportunities within the country’s motorcycle industry.
Amid Bangladesh’s economic challenges, BHL has adopted a dual approach: focusing on increasing local procurement and expanding its export operations.
Shigeru Matsuzaki, BHL’s managing director and CEO, emphasized the need for enhanced cost competitiveness and called for support from stakeholders, including tax exemptions and export incentives, to strengthen Bangladesh’s position in the global market.
Hiroyuki Yasunaga, chief production officer, and Shah Muhammad Ashequr Rahman, chief marketing officer, praised the team’s efforts to showcase Bangladesh’s manufacturing capabilities internationally, reinforcing BHL’s commitment to growth and innovation within the country.
